Plastic Jet Printing

Plastic Jet Printing

Also known as extrusion printing, Plastic Jet Printing is a 3D printing technology that uses plastic to create 3D printed parts. It’s similar to Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), but the printers are made for consumers rather than industrial use.

How Plastic Jet Printing Works

First the user creates a 3D model using a 3D modeling program and saves it as an STL file. The STL file is sent to the 3D printer’s interfacing program which slices the model into sections and determines how the layers will be printed. The model is then sent to the 3D printer. Plastic filament extrudes through a heated nozzle and prints the part one layer at a time. The process repeats until the part is complete.
